SMPD and you….STRONGER TOGETHER!
DARE stands for Drug Abuse Resistance Education. This nationally recognized program is led by the South Milwaukee Police Department’s Juvenile/School Resource Officers who teach DARE to all 5th graders in South Milwaukee schools. During this 10-week course, students cover a wide variety of topics, including the dangers tobacco and alcohol use, the harmful effects of bullying and the importance of good decision-making. Our 5th graders also learn how to deal with peer pressure and resist bad influences. The course concludes with a graduation ceremony at the South Milwaukee High School Performing Arts Center.
The DARE program is funded through donations that come primarily from an annual golf outing. The event consists of a round of golf with a cart, followed by a lunch and raffle. The date of the outing is July 22, 2019 and registration forms are available at the police department. For more information about the DARE golf outing, to sponsor a hole or make a donation, click on the link below or contact the juvenile officer.
